Books to warm you up in the cold months

Winter is a time to stay indoors. In fact, I go outside as little as possible in the winter because I really cannot stand the bitter cold and the minus temperatures which turns everything to ice. Nope. You will find me in my house, in my pajamas by the fire, wrapped up in a blanket reading a book. Here are some books I will be reading this winter to try and keep the cold out!

 1. Blankets by Craig Thompson.

Blankets is actually a comic book about two young people falling in love. It is incredibly sweet and heartwarming. It’s also really fun to read because it’s partnered with some gorgeous illustrations that are sure to hit you right in the feels.

 2. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis

What better thing to do in winter than to revisit one of your childhood favourites? My dad read the entire Chronicles of Narnia series to me when I was younger so they will always hold a very special place in my heart. Plus this book is very fitting for winter; always winter never Christmas?! Can you imagine something more horrific!?

 3. Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige

I’m a sucker for a good retelling, especially of my beloved fairytales. This is a retelling of The Snow Queen and tells the story behind how she became a villain, a queen and a hero. With fair off lands frozen with ice, this story is bound to send a chill down your spine!

 4.  Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstances by Ruth Emmie Lang

This book is like that warm hug you will be wanting all winter. Full of magic, wonder, a boy who was raised by wolves and a horned pig who can stop tornadoes, this book will stay with you for a very long time. Sometimes, books are powerful enough to make your heart feel warm and this is one of those books.

 5. Bear Town by Frederik Backman

This book is set in an ice hockey town which is covered in snow for the majority of the year. When one of the star players gets accused of raping a young girl, the town falls apart as people begin to crack and show their true colours. With writing as beautiful as Backman’s, you will not be able to put this book down on those cold winter nights.
