Skincare products for when your skin absolutely hates you

And to make things more difficult you are trying to go plastic free.

I was gifted the Willowberry skincare items mentioned with no obligation to post. My review is impartial of the fact they were gifted.

I was blessed with many things, but flawless skin that requires absolutely no effort is not one of them. I have really dry, red skin that requires a whole heap of products to keep it happy. It’s a massive Princess, basically.

Skincare was made even harder for me when I decided to cut out products that didn’t come in packaging that was either plastic free or reusable. It really does cut out the stuff I can use by more than half. And my skincare routine isn’t perfect, It’s always evolving and changing, I’m always looking to try out things that come in even less packaging or could work better for me. But for now, what I’m using is working to keep my skin happy and it’s definitely not as red as it used to be!

For the body:

Coconut Oil

My body absolutely LOVES coconut oil, it laps it up! I use coconut oil to moisturize my body after my showers, and it always lasts me without needing top ups. But my face hates it, it always makes me break out in spots. So be aware.

For the face:

Willowberry Nutrient Boost Cleansing Balm:

This product comes in a brown glass bottle with a plastic lid which I will find a use for once I’ve gone through the tub. Once I ran out of my cleanser that was in single-use plastic, I was on a never-ending hunt for a cleanser that was in a reusable container (it’s harder than you think!) I was very kindly gifted this product, but it has honestly been a life changer for me! My skin loves this and I really notice a difference when I don’t use it. This balm keeps my skin so soft! I use it twice a day, morning and night.

The Ordinary Argan Oil:

I use this once a day at night as it has really helped my skin. To be perfectly honest, once I’ve gone through this bottle I will probably swap it out for Lush’s Argan Naked Facial Oil because it doesn’t come in any packaging and is pretty much the same thing. Argan Oil is also great for your dry ends of your hair!

Willowberry Nutrient Boost Face Oil:

This contains chia seed, rosehip and vitamin E and I think this was the saving grace that my skin was waiting for. My skin bloody loves this stuff and the rosehip has really helped even out my skin tone. I get really dry skin on the end of my nose and this has got rid of it! I use this twice a day, morning and night.

The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane:

This stuff helps with surface hydration and balance out the natural pH of your skin. I use this every morning.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2%:

I use this twice a day right before my moisturiser and it really helps keep my skin looking smooth and soft. I’ve seen a lot of Hyaluronic products floating around at the minute, but I have a huge attachment to this one.

Eve of St Agnes Hydrating Facial Silk:

Oh my god, trying to find a moisturiser that doesn’t come in a plastic pot is near impossible! I found this one in a tin and it’s a super great alternative. I use this twice a day, morning and night.

The Ordinary Lipoic Acid 5%:

This is good for smoothing out lines and combating redness. I use this around twice a week AT NIGHT because it can make you more susceptible to sunburn and damage. it ‘s important to note that it is acid, so make sure you patch test this before you put it all over your face!

So yeah, there’s kind of a lot, but if your skin needs a whole lot of moisture like mine does I recommend checking these products out!
